Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cosmetic tattoo? Is it the same as a traditional tattoo?
Cosmetic tattooing (permanent makeup and/or micro pigmentation) is the process and technique of implanting pigment into the upper dermis layers of your skin to create a soft, realistic effect. Many of the machines, tools and sometimes inks are similar to traditional tattooing, the technique itself and where it is implanted into the skin is where it differs the most.
Does Semi-Permanent mean my tattoo will completely disappear?
Permanent makeup requires maintenance to keep color and detail. Fading of your tattoo will happen slowly over time. The length of time and appearance of fading is unique to the individual - variables to consider are lifestyle choices, skin health/integrity, use of skin care products, age and also techniques/technology/pigments within the cosmetic tattoo industry. For most people, their tattoo will last between 1-3 years before needing to book a refresh appointment.
Do you do Coverups?
All coverups will require a consultation before booking. Please send a clear photo in natural light to lizgracetattoo@gmail.com to begin.
Additional sessions may be needed for coverup work.
Showing up to your appointment with previous work without an initial consultation may result in additional charges if you were not pre-approved and I am not able to work over it, even if you think it has completely faded.
For any questions about this process please reach out via the booking page or to lizgracetattoo@gmail.com
Does it hurt?
Generally, no. Each person has a different tolerance for pain, but consistent application of anesthetic typically keeps clients very comfortable. There can be some discomfort if you do not respond to numbing agents.
Do I need a Perfecting Session?
Every cosmetic tattoo that I offer is a two step process. My techniques create natural looking cosmetic tattoos. Without the perfecting session you won’t have your desired result. Your second session to perfect your new tattoo takes place 6-8 weeks after your initial tattoo. This will give you optimal results and longevity.
When should I book if I have a big event coming up?
Cosmetic tattoo services usually require two sessions to see a complete result, unless you have a situation that would require more than the standard two sessions, you will want to make sure that your event falls no earlier than one month from your final appointment.
